Grand Floridian Pros and Cons

The Pros

Advantages - Very comfortable, elegant setting with a pretty beach-side pool with a waterfall. You can watch the Electric Water Pageant and Magic Kingdom Fireworks from the resort beach. The monorail, water launch and walking trail makes it easy to get to the Magic Kingdom. This resort already has a large number of dining and shopping options, but proximity to the Polynesian & Contemporary Resorts greatly expands these as well. Big Bertha is a nearly 100 year old band organ housed at 1900 Park Fare - it plays periodically.

The Cons

Disadvantages - This resort is expensive, especially the theme park view rooms. At times, the lobby will have a lot of non-resort guest who come for the restaurants or just to check out the resort.

Our Opinion of Grand Floridian Resort

Can I just confess that it took us time to warm up to the Grand Floridian? We thought, “Sure, it’s a beautiful resort, but...” and we didn’t think it was really our thing. Then we stayed here, and everything changed! it was outstanding and memorable, the pools and play areas are fantastic, and we LOVE a good hammock :-) It brings such a beautiful balance to a Disney vacation and lets you enjoy a true resort vacation experience. And, now that you can walk to and from the Magic Kingdom, you never have to wait for crowded transportation after the nighttime spectacular is done. This proximity to the Magic Kingdom makes it an obvious choice for families but the resort would fit perfectly in New Orleans or Charleston, SC, making it a great location for couples looking for a romantic setting to go along with the fun of the parks.

People must want this but we think it is weird (Goofy?) that you can have Disney Characters at your wedding in the Grand Floridian Fairy Tale Wedding Pavilion. I suppose it isn't any stranger than having an Elvis impersonator officiating at your Las Vegas wedding.
