Coronado Springs Resort Pros and Cons

The Pros

Advantages - Disney's Coronado Springs Resort offers a distinctive Southwest-inspired atmosphere that sets it apart, creating a unique Disney experience. The addition of the Gran Destino Tower elevates the luxury factor, providing upscale accommodations, panoramic views, and a stylish rooftop dining spot. With a variety of room types, from standard to suites, the resort caters to different group sizes and budgets, ensuring a comfortable stay for all. Culinary enthusiasts will appreciate the diverse dining options, ranging from quick-service to fine dining, accommodating various tastes. The multiple pools, including a fun waterslide and a serene option, cater to both families and those seeking relaxation. Additionally, the resort's strategic location close to Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot makes park hopping a breeze, adding convenience to your stay. It stands out as the only Disney World moderate resort to offer club-level rooms and services, providing an elevated experience for guests who seek extra perks and amenities without having to splurge for a deluxe resort.

The Cons

Disadvantages - While Disney's Coronado Springs Resort boasts numerous advantages, its expansive size can result in lengthy walks from rooms to amenities. The large property features multiple bus stops around its perimeter, which might lead to longer travel times when navigating the resort. Being convention-friendly means that at times, the atmosphere might shift due to hosted events. Depending on room type and timing, the resort's rates could lean toward the higher end, potentially affecting its budget-friendliness. With its popularity, peak seasons can bring higher occupancy, leading to busier common areas and potential wait times. Situated fairly centrally on Disney property but not immediately adjacent to any theme parks, the resort's location might require a bit more travel time to reach certain attractions. Additionally, while the Gran Destino Tower offers upscale accommodations, its rooms exclusively feature showers, which might pose a challenge for guests with little ones who prefer baths.

Our Opinion of Disney's Coronado Springs Resort - I love all of the Disney World moderate resorts but Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is my current favorite because it is just so beautiful and it has so many restaurants and services. A stay here truly feels like a resort experience with lake front dining, roof top dining, painting classes (extra fee), and a beautifully themed pool. The hotel is a great choice for guests who prefer a hotel that is a little more subtle in its Disney theming. It is a very adult-friendly hotel while still being a good option for families and was a favorite of our own now-adult children when they were teens. I’ll happily stay in any room here but many people don’t prefer the classic rooms because of the size of the resort and the distance to services. That’s a fair critique, especially when you’ll be doing a lot of walking in the parks. The Gran Destino tower is wonderful with its interior halls and own bus stop - the only concern is that the rooms only having showers isn’t always ideal for families with young children. Some people bring small, inflatable pools to place within the shower but that seems like hullabaloo to me. The walls are on the thin side in the tower. This being a convention center hotel means restaurants can be crowded when you have large groups all seeking to dine at the same time. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel as long as you are aware of some of the challenges presented by the sheer size and the numbers of conventioneers that may be on property but families with very young children may prefer a different resort that offers splash pads and closer theme park proximity.
